Annual salary
$58,240
Gross pay, before tax and deductions.
Take-home pay depends on your country, tax code and contributions, so it isn't estimated here.
Converting between pay periods
Comparing an hourly rate with an annual salary requires two assumptions: hours worked per week, and paid weeks per year. Change either and the conversion moves.
annual = hourly × hours per week × paid weeks
The common shorthand of "multiply hourly by 2,000" assumes 40 hours over 50 weeks. Using the full 52 gives 2,080 hours, which is the standard basis for most US salary comparisons.
Monthly is not four weeks
A month averages 4.33 weeks, not 4. Multiplying a weekly wage by four underestimates monthly pay by about 8%, which is roughly a month's income a year. Divide the annual figure by 12 instead — that's what this calculator does.
Related: fortnightly pay produces 26 payments a year, so two months in every year contain three paydays. Budgeting on "two paychecks a month" quietly under-counts.
Unpaid leave and contract work
The paid-weeks field is where employment type shows up:
- Salaried with paid leave — 52 weeks. Holiday is already included.
- Hourly, unpaid leave — subtract the weeks you won't be paid for.
- Contractor — subtract holiday, expected sick days and any gap between contracts. 46–48 is more realistic than 52.
Contractors comparing a day rate against a salary should also account for the benefits an employer provides — pension contributions, insurance, equipment, paid training — which routinely add 20–30% to the real value of a salaried package.
Gross, not take-home
Every figure here is gross pay, before tax and deductions. Take-home depends on your country, tax code, pension contributions and local taxes, which is exactly the kind of jurisdiction-specific rule this platform deliberately doesn't guess at.
